Tragedy on EN100: Accident between motorcycle and bus leaves 22 dead and 12 injured in Cuanza Sul

A serious road accident that occurred in the early hours of this Monday (3rd) claimed the lives of 22 people and left a further 12 seriously injured, on the EN100 National Road, near the entrance to Centralidade do Quimbaula, in Cuanza Sul province.


According to preliminary information, the incident occurred at around 5:00am and involved a three-wheeled motorcycle carrying fuel and a passenger bus belonging to the Macon transport company.


According to the authorities, the motorcycle struck the rear of the bus, triggering a large-scale fire that completely consumed both vehicles.


The provisional toll points to 22 fatalities, 12 seriously injured, and the total destruction of the vehicles involved in the accident.


Initial investigations suggest that excessive speed and lack of caution on the part of the motorcycle driver may have been behind the incident. However, the relevant authorities are continuing their inquiries to establish the circumstances and confirm the causes of the accident.

The tragic event once again draws attention to the need to strengthen road safety and ensure strict compliance with traffic regulations on national roads.
