National Police prepares security operation for the 2027 general elections
Angola's National Police is preparing the security measures intended to guarantee the normal running of the 2027 general elections, announced the corporation's commander-general, Francisco Ribas da Silva, in Luanda on Thursday.
The information was disclosed during the opening of the Superior Police Council meeting, where the official highlighted the need to prepare police forces to ensure public order and tranquillity during the electoral period.
According to Francisco Ribas da Silva, the process requires comprehensive preparation and the continuous improvement of the National Police's operational capabilities. In this context, the corporation is expected to strengthen its preparedness in view of the various challenges associated with the electoral period.
The commander-general stated that the National Police has the responsibility of helping ensure the electoral process takes place in an environment of stability and security, safeguarding the integrity of citizens and the various political stakeholders.
Among the measures considered a priority is the implementation of the already-approved Force Training Plan, which is to be carried out rigorously as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The police preparations form part of the National Police's institutional responsibilities relating to the maintenance of public order and security during the electoral process. The corporation is expected to continue developing training and operational preparedness initiatives as the electoral period approaches.
The 2027 general elections will constitute one of the main events on the national political agenda, involving various political actors and citizens, which is why the security authorities consider early preparation necessary to guarantee security conditions during the process.
