Angola's 2026 Health Sector Promotion Competition Offers Career Boost for 34,000 Professionals

Recognizing that modern facilities alone cannot deliver quality healthcare without motivated personnel, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) officially opened applications on Monday, June 15, for the 2026 Internal Career Promotion Competition.
The application period will run until July 3 and represents more than a routine administrative procedure. For thousands of physicians, nurses, and healthcare technicians working on the front lines of Angola's hospitals, it is viewed as a long-awaited opportunity for professional recognition and career advancement.

Evaluation Criteria
Candidates will be assessed based on their performance evaluations covering the period from 2023 to 2025, with previous performance reviews serving as the primary measure of merit.
To enhance transparency and reduce bureaucratic delays, the government will manage the process through the Integrated Human Resources Management System (SIGRH).
According to the ministry, the digital platform is intended to streamline procedures, reduce paperwork, accelerate processing times, and improve fairness throughout the promotion process.

Health Minister SÃlvia Lutucuta emphasized during the launch of the initiative that career advancement is essential for retaining qualified healthcare professionals and sustaining the country's expanding healthcare system.
As Angola continues investing in new hospitals and medical infrastructure, government officials argue that the success of those investments ultimately depends on the professionals delivering patient care.
"Career promotion is recognition of the daily dedication of those who make healthcare possible in Angola," the minister said.
