Trump Launches America.gov and Announces New U.S. Strategy for Artificial Intelligence
New portal aims to consolidate U.S. Government services on a single digital platform, while Trump announces the official replacement of the term "artificial intelligence" with "Super Intelligence" within the American Executive Branch
U.S. President Donald Trump unveiled America.gov on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, a new digital platform designed to centralize citizens' access to federal Government information and services. The launch took place in Washington, at an event that also served as a stage for Trump to present his vision for the future of artificial intelligence and the technological competition between the United States and China.
During the speech, Trump described the project as something that goes beyond a simple website. According to the American President, the proposal represents a transformation in how citizens interact with the federal Government, reducing the need to navigate dozens of pages from different departments and agencies.
"We are launching today something that is much more than just a website," Trump said, presenting America.gov as an attempt to bring public services closer to the digital reality citizens already live in.
A single entry point to the Government
According to the White House, America.gov will function as a kind of "digital front door" to the federal Government. The platform will allow users to ask questions in plain language, receive answers and, as new services are integrated, carry out certain operations directly on the portal.
The initiative aims to solve a problem identified by the American administration: the dispersion of public services across numerous government platforms, each with different procedures, forms and authentication systems.
Trump stated that citizens currently face a true bureaucratic maze, with thousands of government pages and more than 10,000 forms used for different services.
The idea behind the new system is to let citizens simply describe what they need. Instead of searching for which department is responsible for a given service, the platform is expected to interpret the request and direct it to the corresponding procedure.
The White House says that, in this first phase, users can already ask questions and obtain up-to-date information. Additional services are expected to be incorporated progressively. Examples presented by the administration include passport renewal and enrollment in Medicare programs.
Trump also cited situations such as changing one's name, obtaining veterans' benefits, choosing Medicare plans and services related to national parks as examples of tasks that could be simplified.
Technology to reduce bureaucracy
The proposal does not consist merely of gathering links to different government bodies. The executive order signed by Trump establishes America.gov as the unified access point for the federal services covered by the program.
The system is expected to use artificial intelligence technologies — officially called "Super Intelligence" (SI) by the administration — to understand questions phrased in natural language and help users find or carry out the service they need.
The White House also states that the platform was designed with mechanisms for authentication, security, data minimization and protection of personal information. America.gov is expected to integrate with Login.gov, which is used for authentication in federal services.
Despite the centralization of the digital experience, the systems and responsibilities of each federal agency will remain separate. The order determines that agencies maintain custody of their own records and legal responsibilities.
According to the executive order, at least, America.gov also does not eliminate traditional means of service. In-person, telephone and mail services, as well as agency-specific pages, remain planned as alternatives.
Trump officially changes the name of "artificial intelligence"
The launch of the portal occurred alongside another far-reaching technological decision.
On the same day, Trump signed an executive order determining that, within the federal Executive Branch, the terms "Artificial Intelligence" (AI) and "Artificial Intelligence" be replaced, where permitted by law, with "Super Intelligence" (SI).
The measure requires departments and agencies to use the new terminology in official communications, public policy documents, reports, websites and other materials not governed by law.
The White House justified the change by arguing that current technologies exceed what was traditionally understood as artificial intelligence, expanding human capabilities in areas such as science, medicine, creativity and research.
The order also directs the presidential advisor for Science and Technology to submit, within 60 days, a proposed federal definition of "Super Intelligence" and to assess possible legislative changes related to the new concept.
Technological competition with China
Another of the main points of the speech was the technological rivalry between Washington and Beijing.
Trump stated that the United States is ahead of China in developing the technology and rejected the idea of a joint initiative between the two countries to develop so-called Super Intelligence.
According to the President, deep technological cooperation could allow China to gain access to knowledge and technologies developed by the United States.
"If we do that, we'll be giving away a lot of secrets that we have and that they would like to have," Trump said during the event.
The President presented the technology race as a strategic competition in which leadership in artificial intelligence could have economic, scientific and geopolitical consequences.
Despite the statements, the technological relationship between Washington and Beijing is not completely severed. Official White House information indicates that the United States and China recently established a bilateral dialogue on Super Intelligence, as well as a communication channel intended to address incidents related to the technology.
Thus, the position presented by Trump combines technological competition and the protection of strategic American capabilities with certain dialogue mechanisms between the two countries.
"Whoever wins Super Intelligence wins," says Trump
During the speech, Trump stated that the technology could represent a greater transformation than the Industrial Revolution itself and the emergence of the internet.
The President defended a policy of encouraging technological development, arguing that excessive restrictions could compromise American leadership.
Trump also highlighted medical applications of the technology, stating that advances that previously seemed impossible are being achieved in ever shorter periods.
The American administration has presented Super Intelligence as a tool capable of accelerating scientific research, drug development, medical advances, industrial production and other strategic areas.
A transformation that is still in its early stages
Despite the official launch, America.gov does not yet represent the completion of the project.
The White House says the platform will be expanded progressively as different agencies integrate their services. The executive order directs federal bodies to identify the covered services and work on integrating them with the new platform.
So-called covered services generally include federal public services intended for more than 100,000 users over a 12-month period that can be accessed or requested online. Some services are excluded, including certain Internal Revenue Service tax operations and services related to national security areas.
Trump presented this expansion as a structural change in the relationship between citizens and the State.
For the President, the goal is to make the Government no longer be perceived as a bureaucratic structure that is hard to navigate, and instead operate through a digital experience similar to the one citizens are already accustomed to in the private sector.
Digital government enters a new phase
The launch of America.gov comes at a time when the United States is seeking to accelerate the use of advanced technologies within public administration.
The initiative combines three elements: centralization of digital services, use of artificial intelligence systems and modernization of the citizen experience.
At the same time, the decision to officially adopt the expression "Super Intelligence" shows that the Trump administration intends to associate the technology with a broader strategy of scientific and economic leadership for the United States.
In the launch speech, Trump tied this transformation to the 250th anniversary of American independence, presenting the project as part of a new technological stage for the country.
America.gov thus begins as a public services platform, but the scale the American administration attributes to the project is larger: transforming the digital interaction between citizens and Government and using advanced technologies as an instrument for modernizing the State.
The implementation, however, will be gradual. The real reach of the initiative will depend on the integration of the various federal bodies, the performance of the technological systems, the protection of personal data and the Government's ability to turn the promise of simplification into services that are actually accessible to citizens.
