Federal Police launch new phase of operation against alleged leak of information to Comando Vermelho

Brazil's Federal Police launched a new phase on Friday of an operation investigating an alleged scheme in which confidential information about police actions was leaked to members of the criminal faction Comando Vermelho.

The action is carrying out three preventive arrest warrants and 14 search and seizure warrants, issued by the Federal Supreme Court (STF). The operations are taking place at addresses in the city of Rio de Janeiro and in the municipality of São João de Meriti, in the Baixada Fluminense region.

Among the targets of the operation are former state deputy and former president of Alerj, Rodrigo Bacellar, who will be transferred to a federal prison; the alleged organized-crime figure Adilson Oliveira Coutinho, known as "Adilcinho"; and pastor Márcio Pôncio.

According to the investigation, the Federal Police found documents in Adilson Oliveira Coutinho's possession containing records of alleged financial transfers to political figures in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The material also reportedly includes notes on improper payments, campaign donations, and possible accounting related to money laundering.

Investigators are now analyzing the seized documents to trace the financial flow and identify other individuals who may have been involved in the scheme.

The Federal Police stated that the operation aims to further investigate the possible network responsible for leaking confidential information, as well as the alleged ties between members of the criminal organization, organized-crime figures, and public officials.
